The Gooneylla Riverside mine is a part of BMA, the 50:50 joint venture between BHP and Mitsubishi Development.

Goonyella Riverside is an open cut coal mine located 30 kilometres north of Moranbah in Queensland's Bowen Basin and is located on the traditional lands of the Barada Barna people. Coal is exported on the Goonyella railway line to Hay Point, from where it’s sent to markets worldwide. The Goonyella mine commenced operations in 1971, merging with the adjoining Riverside mine in 1989.
