BHP Jansen Potash Project

As the world’s population grows, so does the need for resources like potash to support more sustainable farming and food production. This is why BHP is building one of the world’s most sustainable potash mines in Jansen, Saskatchewan.

The BHP Jansen project is the single largest economic investment in Saskatchewan's history. A peek inside our potash project in Canada

Production is expected to commence at Jansen in late 2026, delivering 4.35 million tonnes of potash a year to customers around the world producing the nutrient-rich fertilisers required to address a growing population, constraints on agricultural land and evolving diets.

Building strong partnerships at Jansen

As construction progresses at our Jansen potash project in Saskatchewan, Canada, we have awarded three new contracts in partnership with local First Nation communities.
