BHP is requesting Expressions of Interest from interested organisations to develop, implement and manage its new Training and Apprenticeship Social Investment Program.  BHP has developed the Vital Resources Fund to support the regions where we operate to respond to and recover from COVID-19 and through our voluntary social investment program, will continue to support longer term efforts to support economic recovery, post the pandemic.

BHP is partnering with the Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE) to:

  • create opportunities that further develop key skills and access to employment in regional areas,
  • support small, medium and Indigenous run businesses to upskill employees to operate effectively in a new digital landscape,
  • tailor training courses and opportunities to address critical needs in the regions and support a connected training to employment pathway.

It is anticipated the lead agency will work closely with tertiary institutions to incorporate the DESE Advanced Apprenticeship and Short Courses training models into the program.  Target regions must include, but are not limited to, the areas where BHP operates: Bowen Basin in Central Queensland, Upper Spencer Gulf and Roxby Downs in South Australia, the Pilbara and the Gold Fields in WA and the Hunter Region in NSW. BHP will fund up to $30M over 5 years.

Interested organisations should contact vitalresourcesfund@bhp.com for a detailed Terms of Reference.  Expressions of Interest should be submitted prior to midnight on the 15th of November.
