21 December 2017
For BHP, 2017 was a year of consolidation. A year where our discipline paid off, showing once again, that we’re here for the long-term. We are proud of our achievements, some of which, we’ve highlighted in our ‘2017: The year in review’ video:
One year on from our new operating model, we are much more connected and simpler. We achieved strong half year results following several years of a considered and deliberate approach to improve productivity and the redesign of our portfolio and operating model.
Our leaders’ committed to an enhanced focus on culture and for the first time in 30 years, we launched a brand campaign that celebrates our people and captures the spirit of BHP.
Our field leadership program became global. Now we have one common set of processes, systems and training across the company that focusses on keeping us all safe.
This year, we celebrated 50 year milestones in Newman, Japan and Blackwater, and we’re already thinking about the next 50.
Our Health, Safety, Environment and Community targets were updated and we recognised the best in field with our 2017 HSEC Awards.
We welcomed 1,000 women to the BHP team, increasing our diversity and making our sites safer and more productive.
We remain committed to the recovery of communities and ecosystems affected by the dam failure at Samarco, as resolutely as we did two years ago.
Thank you to our employees, their families, investors, shareholders and partners. In 2017, we have laid strong foundations to grow value. We’re simpler, we’re more connected and we’re ready for the future. This is our BHP. Here’s to 2018!
