BHP Billiton today announced that the acquisition of Intercor was completed on Thursday 21, February 2002. Intercor was purchased from ExxonMobil by a consortium comprising subsidiaries of BHP Billiton, Anglo American Plc and Glencore International AG (the Consortium).

The Consortium will run Intercor together with its other Colombian coal interests, CDC and CZN, as an independent business through a single integrated management structure.

An integration team has been established to focus on amalgamating the management and businesses of Intercor, CDC and CZN, and providing a strong platform from which to grow the Colombian assets.
