Mining Minds is an education initiative in Olympic Dam’s host community of Roxby Downs and surrounding areas. Funded by BHP, the project is community driven, locally delivered and built on well-researched best practice models. It takes a whole of community approach to improving learning outcomes for students, building educational capacity and transforming education and the local community.

The project spans all age groups from early years to adult education. Initiatives have been put in place to support educator development, student learning and wellbeing, and parent partnerships. It also includes the  development of a community hub to provide a base for parent and community information sharing.

Mining Minds combines best practice educational research with extensive community consultation and engagement. This has created a sustainable approach to building local educational outcomes and enhanced the value of education within the community.
