EmBRace-ing South Australia

Last month, Copper South Australia observed the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and Harmony Week in Australia with the formal launch of Employees Beyond Race (EmBRace) South Australia.

EmBRace is a BHP employee resource group focused that seeks to create a more racially inclusive BHP, with South Australia being the latest region to establish a chapter.

Copper South Australia teams joined in-person and online from our Adelaide offices, Carrapateena, Olympic Dam and Prominent Hill across two days, hearing from Asset President, Anna Wiley, and some members of her leadership team on practical things that can be done to create a work culture that eliminates racial inequality.

There were also some very poignant shares from members of the EmBRace team on why they chose to use their voice to advocate for and build a safe and inclusive workplace where everyone can be their best.

There is no place for racism at BHP or anywhere in the community. It causes harm and hurt to those impacted and we’re determined to eliminate these harmful behaviours in our business.

Our EmBRace SA team is: Cu Phan (EmBRace SA Sponsor), Suloshini Jahanath (EmBRace SA Co-lead), Ricardo E Mora (EmBRace SA Co-lead), Tonny Tran (EmBRace SA working group member) and Emily Mboya (EmBRace SA working group member). Supported by Chika Onyeogaziri (EmBRace Australia Co-Lead).
