Following in his familys footsteps

Growing up in Dysart, Todd always had his sights set on being an electrician and completed his domestic electrical apprenticeship after finishing grade 10.

With his father and grandad both enjoying long careers in the mining industry, it’s no surprise that Todd ended up joining them and is now the Project Infrastructure Supervisor at Saraji Mine.

“I'm a third generation of coal mining. My granddad, he helped prepare the work site for Saraji, and my dad worked on site at Saraji for 22 years before heading to Hay Point as a shutdown coordinator.”

“This community and coal mining has supported my grandparents' family and then my parents’ family and now I'm doing the same for my kids too, so it's a pretty amazing thing to be a part of.”

While all teams have an important role to play in the safe and reliable running of the mine, Todd considers the Project Infrastructure team to be the mine’s foundation.

“We keep the operations of the mine going. We are a real, enabling function and make it possible for others to deliver their work.”

Todd still has a passion for all things electrical and finds helping people and teams the most enjoyable part of his role.

“I really get a kick out of helping people and growing up in Dysart has helped me build some really strong relationships – both in our team and across departments. We are lucky to have a culture on site where we try to help each other out as much as we can which makes for a happy and enjoyable work environment”.
