BHP Billiton Iron Ore President, Jimmy Wilson, today joined Western Australian Premier, the Hon. Colin Barnett, MLA, to open the BHP Billiton Water Park at Perth’s Elizabeth Quay.
The Water Park provides a free community space with a family-friendly, interactive water and light feature at Perth’s new waterfront destination.
“The Water Park is a great place to gather and enjoy the atmosphere of Elizabeth Quay on the banks of the beautiful Swan River,” Mr Wilson said.
“As a flexible venue catering for up to 800 people, it will host events and activities that will create a sense of community for Western Australians and visitors alike.
“BHP Billiton is proud to support projects that contribute to the development of the State and its capital, which has evolved to become one of the world’s great cities.”
BHP Billiton contributed A$10 million to cover one hundred per cent of the Water Park’s construction costs.
The investment was made via the Company’s Social Investment Program, which has contributed over A$300 million in Western Australia over the past five years to health, education and Indigenous development programs and community infrastructure.
