Potash Spreads Some Holiday Season Cheer

For the sixth season, BHP Billiton Potash is title sponsor of the annual Enchanted Forest Holiday Light Tour in Saskatoon, Canada. This is a top wintertime tourist attraction in the City of Saskatoon that draws in excess of 60,000 visitors between late November and early January.

Proceeds raised from entry/gate fees are usually in excess of C$250,000 annually and are directly shared by the Saskatoon Zoo Foundation and Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation. BHP Billiton coordinated a greeter night on 12 December where employees handed out small toy trains to visitors to commemorate the new Enchanted Express light display.

“This is an important attraction not only for the City of Saskatoon but also for the residents of the Province of Saskatchewan as whole” said Chris Ryder, Head of Corporate Affairs. “We are pleased to work with these organizations to offer such an excellent display of community spirit”.

“This attraction continues to grow and get better each year, this year we were able to install LED lighting in each of our light displays which is friendly towards both our operating costs and the environment through reduced power usage.” said Hugh Vassos, Marketing Director for the event.

“Without the outstanding corporate support of organizations such as our title sponsor BHP Billiton and other local corporations and businesses, the Enchanted Forest Holiday Light Tour would simply not be possible”.
