BHP Billiton said today it was extremely concerned about the references made to BHP in the Royal Commission into the UN Oil-For-Food Programme.

The company is working hard to clarify the facts as soon as possible.

BHP Billiton’s commitment to the highest standards of ethical conduct is a matter of public record.  Our Guide to Business Conduct and our Charter (available on our website at outline our expectations in relation to the manner in which business is conducted.

BHP Billiton will provide the assistance required by the Commission and will continue to review the evidence that has been given and determine what, if any, steps need to be taken.

The company will provide further information as it becomes available.
