Copper has shaped human history and civilisation for millennia. In the 20th century, the story of copper was inextricably linked to the rise of electricity demand. As we harnessed electrical power, copper became an indispensable material, crucial to our energy systems and modern technology.

At our Western Australia Iron Ore Port Hedland operations, we acknowledge our responsibility to our community and regulators to continuously improve our air quality performance. We continue to work closely with government, industry and the local community to further improve air quality controls at our operations and for the communities where we operate. We want to help improve local amenity while also continuing to provide jobs and economic opportunity for the region. 
BHP's economic and commodity outlook

Population growth, urbanisation, the infrastructure of decarbonisation, capital stock replacement and rising living standards are expected to drive demand for steel, non–ferrous metals, and fertilisers for decades to come.
