BHP Billiton Gives US$250,000 To Help Victims of Texas Flooding

BHP Billiton Petroleum today announced a US$250,000 donation to the American Red Cross in response to the recent extensive flooding in dozens of Texas counties.

BHP Billiton President, Petroleum and Potash, Tim Cutt, said, “Devastating flooding in recent weeks has caused considerable loss to many individuals, families, and Texas communities, including many where our employees live and work. We are committed to these communities, and we believe the Red Cross is best equipped to address their immediate needs and help them get back on their feet.”

BHP Billiton has more than 2,500 employees in Texas, and has extensive operations producing oil and gas in the Eagle Ford and Permian Basin shale formations in South Texas and West Texas, respectively.

“We sincerely appreciate the generosity of BHP Billiton and their gift to the American Red Cross,” said Steve Vetrano, Chief Executive Officer, Greater Houston Area Chapter, American Red Cross. “This assistance will provide for the immediate needs of the affected by these disasters.”
