Brandon Craig is BHP’s CEO elect and will start as CEO on 1 July 2026.

Brandon is currently BHP’s President Americas and has led the company’s growth strategy in future facing commodities in South America, Canada and the United States since 2024.

During this time, BHP became the world’s largest copper producer and Escondida - the world’s largest copper mine - increased its grade and production guidance through productivity improvements and operational excellence.

Brandon has also overseen the development of BHP’s Jansen potash project in Canada - which is on track to begin operations in mid-2027 and will diversify BHP’s portfolio in a new commodity with strong long-term fundamentals.

Prior to this, Brandon led Western Australia Iron Ore, improving operational performance, delivering the South Flank mine development, and increasing BHP’s lead as the lowest cost, highest margin major iron ore producer in the world.

Brandon joined Western Australia Iron Ore in 2020 and successfully led the asset through the COVID-19 impacts, with the business achieving record production and delivering strong support to local communities.

Over more than 25 years with BHP, Brandon has held a range of senior leadership roles spanning maintenance, marketing, human resources and operational management. This includes the establishment of BHP’s Maintenance and Engineering Centre of Excellence.

Brandon Craig holds a Master’s Degree in Business Leadership and a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from University of Natal.
