Singleton Strikers Football Club (SSFC) has been part of the Hunter Valley community for decades, but the past few years haven’t been easy.

SSFC Community President and Senior Specialist Mining Engineer at Mt Arthur Coal, Mark, explained the Club has been playing away from their home ground at Alroy Oval for two seasons now while the grounds are rebuilt.

“Navigating this transition and ensuring the seasons could progress as planned has required a lot of hard work from an army of volunteers,” Mark said.

“Losing our field was a significant blow to morale, and on top of this, we needed additional sponsorship to replace our aging game shirts,” he said.

“Through my work, I approached Mt Arthur Coal who stepped in to cover game shirts for 11 teams over a three-year period which puts 150 of our players in new shirts.”

“Having BHP step in to sponsor the team shirts was the turning point we needed after a series of setbacks.”

“Our players now tour the Valley on their away games looking very proper in their brand-new jerseys and play at home with a renewed sense of pride.”

“We’re very excited for the 2027 season; we’re hoping to be back at our home ground and to have all our teams play at the one ground.”

“I want to share the gratitude of the hundreds of members of the Singleton Strikers Football Club for BHP’s substantial support, particularly during a time of significant turbulence for the Club,” he said.
