Hunter River Community Conversation

At the end of March, BHP hosted the Hunter River Community Conversation.

This event provided an opportunity for Mt Arthur Coal, local industry, local landholders and community organisations to engage in an informal community conversation to share ideas, concerns and opportunities for improving the health of the Hunter River.

Mt Arthur Coal shared information about a Hunter River project in progress before opening the floor to a broader conversation about river health and resilience.

The event connected people with a keen interest in improving river health and generated ideas about the importance of the river to the Hunter both historically and in the future. 

The conversation is planned to continue, aiming to establish a mechanism to enable future action to achieve tangible improvements in the Hunter River ecological system

This event required input from multiple departments, and we’d like to thank everyone involved for their efforts to bring these stakeholders together to further collaborate on improving the health and resilience of the Hunter River.
