Community plants 1,000 trees at Mt Arthur Coal
We recently opened up the gates to Mt Arthur Coal, welcoming community onsite to learn more about our operations and join in our rehabilitation program.
Guests attending our annual Community Tree Planting Day:
- learnt about our approach to rehabilitation
- visited the pit to see our operations in action
- heard more about our closure plans
- found out about how we are managing Indigenous Cultural Heritage
- contributed to our rehabilitation story
- enjoyed a free BBQ lunch and refreshments.
These days aren’t possible without the contribution of many people. We’d like to thank:
- all the Mt Arthur Coal teammates who helped make the day happen
- Archaeologist Liz Olejnik and the Indigenous Cultural Heritage advisors for sharing their display of Indigenous artefacts and explaining how Cultural Heritage is managed
- the Wanaruah Local Aboriginal Land Council who, through their Wanaruah Parray Ranger Program, taught local people about working on Country
- the Muswellbrook Rotary Club who cooked a delicious BBQ lunch
- the Grove coffee van who kept the crowds caffeinated and hydrated with coffee and cold drinks
- Contractors, GSS and Monadelphous, who were also on hand to assist with the planting.
Thank you for everyone who helped make the day a success; your efforts are what make onsite community collaboration possible.
