New BHP Theatrette opens at Hunter Wetlands Centre

Earlier this year, we officially opened the refurbished BHP Theatrette at the Hunter Wetlands Centre.

Our support for the Hunter Wetlands Centre dates back to the mid-80s when BHP Newcastle Steelworks helped redevelop the site from a rugby field and swamp into a vibrant ecosystem that now homes over 200 bird species.

As a continuation of this historical partnership, last year BHP provided a grant to refurbish the Theatrette which will enhance education opportunities of around 7,000 local school students who visit the Hunter Wetlands Centre each year.

We’re proud to support this Centre which plays an important role in environmental research and education, and is a popular ecotourism destination.
