Olympic Dam superintendent Nima Sherpa has been named as a finalist in the Exceptional Young Woman in Australian Resources category as part of the Minerals Council of Australia’s annual Women In Resources National Awards.
The awards, which celebrate and recognise exceptional women and gender diversity champions inspiring others within and outside the resources sector, will be held in Canberra in September.
Originally from Colorado, Nima moved to Australia in December 2013 and joined BHP Olympic Dam in mid-2017. With qualifications in biochemistry and engineering, she leads a team of technical specialists on site focused on uranium, gold and silver production. She also volunteers her time in supporting women and social inclusion, and encouraging students to pursue careers in STEM.
Nima has been nominated alongside five other exceptional young women from the Northern Territory, Western Australia, Queensland, New South Wales and Tasmania. Good luck!
