We are proud to announce a C$25,000 donation to the construction of a new outdoor swimming facility in the town of Raymore, Saskatchewan.
In keeping with our commitment to supporting projects that benefit the communities near where we operate, the donation has helped to build a facility that is focused on serving the community’s young families and teaching children valuable swimming skills.
“BHP Billiton is proud to be involved with such a worthwhile project. In addition to the enormous health benefits for the Raymore community, the new facility will greatly enhance the quality of life for local residents,” said Chris Ryder, Head of Corporate Affairs for BHP Billiton.
At the grand opening event, Ken Smith, Community Development Manager, Courage Bear, Community Specialist and Ann Paton, Community Specialist from Potash Corporate Affairs presented Mayor Malcolm Koncz with the cheque.
“The small town of Raymore has pulled together to complete a major water park project. We fundraised over C$400,000 and with the corporate support of organisations such as BHP Billiton received additional donations in excess of C$300,000. This has created a new recreation facility in our rural community to attract young families and teach children how to swim,” Mayor Koncz said.
