The Broken Hill Proprietary Company Limited (BHP) said today it would hold an Extraordinary General Meeting of shareholders in Melbourne on Friday 26 February 1999.

The meeting will consider the following matters:

• Issues of equity to the Managing Director Mr P M (Paul) Anderson and the Executive Directors;
• A proposal to unwind the Beswick structure.
  

Details of these proposals will be forwarded to shareholders in the Notice of Meeting which is expected to be available at the end of January 1999.
