New Pilbara Tradie Hub opens its doors

Port Hedland tradies have a new space to call home following the official opening of the Tradie Hub.

Proudly supported by BHP, through the Vital Resources Fund (VRF), the Tradie Hub is a shared co-working space that offers opportunities for entrepreneurial tradespeople to begin and develop small businesses in a supportive and cooperative environment with the aim to progress from a shared space right through to stand-alone small business.

Mia, owner of Maid to Shine, has been operating her business from home and is excited to be one of the first businesses to move into the new hub.

“As much as we would like to rent a commercial space, rental crisis and rental prices limit our options to do so. The Tradie Hub fills that gap. It gives us the opportunity to have a headquarters to operate our business from and store our equipment,” Mia said.

“We now have a quiet office space to do our business paperwork and hold meetings with clients and staff as well.”

Therese Anderson, President of the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the opening is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses.

“This new co-working space in another investment towards supporting local businesses to take the next step in their growth,” she said.

Cindy Dunham, BHP General Manager Port, attended the opening and is excited to see local businesses flourish in the new space.

“We hope this new facility will enable local small business to grow and develop increasing capability across the local supply chain and boost regional economic development in Port Hedland,” Cindy said.

BHP’s contribution was made through BHP’s Vital Resources Fund (VRF), which was established to support regional Australian communities facing significant challenges as a result of COVID-19.
