BHP is delighted to be the principal sponsor of the Women in Resources National Awards (WIRNA) again in 2025, an annual celebration highlighting the remarkable contributions of women across Australia's resources industry.
This year, the awards enters their twelfth year, presented by the Minerals Council of Australia in partnership with the Victorian and Northern Territory divisions, New South Wales Minerals Council, the Queensland Resources Council, the Chamber of Minerals and Energy Western Australia, the Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing and Energy Council and the South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy and, with support from Women in Mining Network state branches.
WIRNA continues to shine a spotlight on the diverse talents and achievements of women in our sector, while encouraging more women to consider careers in resources. At BHP, women now make up 40 per cent of our global workforce - a figure that's more than doubled since 2016. We know that diverse teams are safer, more productive and engaged and we’re committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone can bring their whole selves to work and perform at their best.
By supporting these awards, we hope to inspire the next generation of female leaders and role models, and to showcase the diverse and rewarding opportunities that the resources sector offers.
