Get the facts on the closure decision

Find out more about the planned closure and what it means for the community, our team and the site.

We made the decision to close the mine in 2030 for two reasons, firstly, the value declines as we approach 2030, due to the monocline, a known geological feature in the Hunter Valley. Secondly, we wanted to allow enough time to support our workforce and the community to prepare for the closure.

It’s about giving us enough time to transition, from a workforce point of view but also from a community point of view.
