Appointment Of Jimmy Wilson As President, Energy Coal

BHP Billiton announced today that it has appointed Jimmy Wilson as President, Energy Coal, effective from 1 September 2009.

Mr Wilson has had an extensive career in the mining industry. In his 17 years with BHP Billiton, Jimmy has held key managerial and operating roles in the organisation, including President of Stainless Steel Materials (1 January 2007 to 31 August 2009). Prior to this he was President and Chief Operating Officer Nickel West, President and Chief Operating Officer Samancor Chrome, and General Manager of Billiton's Bayside Aluminium.

BHP Billiton Chief Executive Ferrous and Coal, Marcus Randolph today welcomed Mr Wilson to the Energy Coal executive team.

""Jimmy's depth of experience in both operational and executive roles will be invaluable in his leadership of the Energy Coal group. I look forward to working with Jimmy as we continue to develop our energy coal business,"" he said.

Mr Wilson will take over this role from Dave Murray, who has decided to leave the organisation.

""Dave has had a long and successful career with BHP Billiton and has played a tremendous role in delivering the successful energy coal business that we have.

""BHP Billiton would like to thank Dave for his contribution to the organisation and the industry,"" Mr Randolph said.

Jimmy Wilson will be based in Sydney.

Gerard Bond (previously CFO, Stainless Steel Materials) will assume the role of Acting CSG President, Stainless Steel Materials.
