STARS Air Ambulance receives $15,000 boost from Pause and Reach Out
BHP has presented a $15,000 donation to STARS Air Ambulance through its Pause and Reach Out program, reinforcing a shared commitment to safety both on the job and in the communities where we live and work.
Since February, the Pause and Reach Out program has recognized employees and contractors at our Jansen Site in Saskatchewan, Canada, who demonstrate safety leadership by stopping work when something does not feel right, speaking up about hazards, or looking out for coworkers.
Employees and contractors recognized through the program receive a custom Pause and Reach Out coin, with each coin representing a $10 donation to a local organization aligned with Team Jansen's values.
STARS Air Ambulance was selected as one of the program's community partners in recognition of the organization's vital role in providing life-saving emergency medical care across Western Canada.
"Our Pause and Reach Out program is about empowering people to take action when it comes to safety," said Tony Wieczorek, Program Director for Jansen. "The donation to STARS reflects the same principle. They are there when people need them most, delivering critical care and helping save lives in communities across our region."
The donation also recognizes the extraordinary work of STARS who support communities during times of crisis. Most recently, STARS played a role in responding to the tragic fire at CFB Wainwright, highlighting the critical care and professionalism they bring to emergency situations.
Barry Tolmie, Captain and Aviation Base Manager at STARS, joined the team at Jansen and reinforced the message of safety being a shared responsibility.
"Together STARS and BHP are making sure help is there when it matters most, as no one knows what the next 13 seconds hold," said Barry.
BHP's partnership with STARS began in 2013 and has contributed approximately $6.5 million to support the organization's operations. Whether it's a team member or a STARS' crew responding when every minute counts, looking out for one another is what makes us safer together every day.
BHP's Jansen mine in Saskatchewan is expected to become one of the world's largest potash mines. Potash is an essential nutrient that helps improve crop productivity and supports global food security. Through responsible operations, community partnerships and local investment, BHP is committed to creating long-term value for Saskatchewan and the communities surrounding the mine.
