Approved! A big step forward for Mt Arthur Coal post 2030

Our vision for the Mt Arthur Coal site is that it delivers a positive legacy from BHP mining in the Hunter Valley.

Today, a big step forward in that vision has been delivered through the NSW Government’s approval of the Mt Arthur Coal Mine Land Transformation Precinct Master Plan and rezoning of our site.

The approved Master Plan and rezoning enables Mt Arthur Coal mine land to be used for a range of additional uses, a key step once BHP stops mining.

The opportunity that the Mt Arthur Coal site represents after BHP stops mining is significant for the region to generate long-term jobs and economic prosperity. In fact, the Government’s conceptual studies indicate around 5,900 jobs could be enabled over 15 years through this Master Plan.
