$1.41 million investment to support Nyunnga Ku Regional Community Collective Hub

BHP and Nyunnga Ku Aboriginal Corporation have announced a $1.41 million investment to support development of the Nyunnga Ku Regional Community Collective Hub in Leonora, the latest initiative to be backed by the WA Nickel Community Fund.

The investment will enable Nyunnga Ku Aboriginal Corporation to purchase a premises and establish a Men's Cultural Shed, native plant nursery and seed propagation enterprise, which together, will support consistent service delivery in one place while creating employment pathways and economic opportunities for local community members.

More than a physical facility, the Regional Community Collective Hub will unite government agencies, service providers and local stakeholders under one roof to support community-led outcomes and strengthen connections across the region.

BHP Vice President WA Nickel, Annabelle Blom, said supporting projects designed and driven by local communities was central to the WA Nickel Community Fund.

Nyunnga Ku Aboriginal Corporation Chairperson and Founder Colleen Berry said the investment would help bring the organisation's vision for the community to life.

Established in late 2024, BHP's $20 million WA Nickel Community Fund supports initiatives that strengthen liveability, economic diversification and cultural inclusion across the Goldfields region.

With facilities secured and the operating model in place, the Nyunnga Ku Regional Community Collective Hub is expected to create enduring pathways to improved health, skills development, employment and local economic diversification, delivering community benefits for years to come.
