McNab Pool makes a splash
BHP made a splash at McNab Regional Park in Watson, Saskatchewan, announcing a C$100,000 investment to support upgrades to the community swimming pool.
The funding supported the replacement of the pool liner and upgrades to the pool pump system, helping ensure the facility remains a safe, welcoming and enjoyable destination for residents, visitors and campers.
The announcement was made during the first BHP Swim Day on 20 August, a new annual event that brings families together and celebrates community partnership by offering free admission to the pool for the day.
Town of Watson Mayor Bruce Nordick said the investment will have a lasting impact on local residents and visitors.
“The swimming pool is one of our community’s most valued gathering places during the summer months,” said Nordick. “BHP’s support will help ensure families can continue enjoying this important community asset for many years to come.”
The investment builds on BHP’s longstanding partnership with McNab Regional Park, including previous support for facility improvements and campground infrastructure.
“Strong communities are built around the places that bring people together,” said Mike Moscarda, General Manager Integrated Operations, BHP.
“For generations, McNab Pool has helped create summer memories for local families. We are proud to support its renewal so it can continue serving the community well into the future.
“This investment reflects our commitment to helping build thriving, connected communities where people can live, work and raise their families.”
McNab Regional Park is a popular destination for residents and visitors alike, located approx. 50 km from Jansen, it offers a swimming pool, campground, golf course and a range of family-friendly amenities.
The contribution forms part of BHP’s broader commitment to supporting the long-term success of communities surrounding the Jansen Potash Project. Since 2015, BHP has invested more than C$56 million in social value initiatives across Canada, supporting childcare, housing, education, Indigenous partnerships, and community development.
