Meet Kira, Maintenance Technician at the CHPP for our NSW operatio. Kira has been at Mt Arthur for 8 years. She completed her Apprenticeship at MAC as a Heavy Vehicle Electrician and was offered a permanent role at the CHPP after completing it. Kira loves spending time with her nephew Charlie and dog Tiger- and also takes every chance to get out on the motorbike!
What’s the best thing about your job?
The best thing about coming to work is definitely the people I get to work with. There is always something new to learn from the people here who have different work backgrounds.
What is your team focused on at the moment?
The CHPP Maintenance team's focus is always around safety and looking out for one another. Making sure we each return home after a shift to our family and loved ones.
How do you relax outside of work?
I relax by going to the beach, motorbike riding and simply spending quality time with my family and my friends.
Are you taking up any of the workforce initiatives? If so what and why?
I have taken part in the financial advice that bhp offered and found it very beneficial. I'm also taking part in the career coaching and look forward to seeing what advice they give.
What’s the legacy you want MAC to leave at 2030?
It would be great for MAC to leave a positive impact on the community after the doors shut where employees like myself and many others will leave and be proud of what the business achieved and the opportunities, experience and doors it has opened for us.
