Ananda was born and raised in a small town called Estância Velha, in the south of Brazil, and moved to Belo Horizonte in 2018. With a degree in Civil Engineering, and a MBA in project management she is currently specializing in risk, auditing, and compliance.
From the start of her career, Ananda has always been involved with the inclusion & diversity agenda, believing that “we can only be a successful team when everyone feels comfortable and safe to be themselves at the workplace”. She is now part of the Brazil Inclusion and Diversity team, having contributed to raising awareness of the agenda in the team.
Ananda received the best news of her life during the pandemic in July 2021 – Maria Alice was coming! After a 6-month parental leave, she returned to work and has embraced her new role as a working Mom.
“The support and flexibility the entire Brazil and Risk teams have given me, allowed this return to work to be joyful, gentle and gratifying” said Ananda.
In her new position, she will be able to use her analytic and organization-oriented profile to support the Brazil team, Renova Foundation and Samarco to provide full and fair redress to the communities and to the environment impacted by the dam failure, as well as to ensure sustainable operations at Samarco.
“Working on the reparation has been the most challenging and at same time rewarding experience of my career. It is amazing to see our work reflected in the progress and results delivered to the communities and the environment and into a renewed culture of safety into Samarco and BHP”.
