BHP and She Codes create new opportunities

BHP has proudly supported She Codes, as a major partner, since 2016 and was the first corporate partnership to launch She Codes Plus (previously Web Girls Plus!). Since its launch, the partnership has provided more pathways and opportunities for women to enter the technology industry in both Perth and Brisbane.

The She Codes Plus Program is designed to supercharge the tech career of its participants – ideal for women looking to enter, or advance in, the tech industry. The six-month Program is open to both current employees of BHP, looking to upskill, and the external community.

In 2021, the She Codes Brisbane Plus program upskilled ten women from BHP and ten from the broader community. Three of the graduates, Georgie, Brooke and Bruna, have been recruited into the BHP Digital Factory team in Brisbane.

Georgie joined the She Codes community with the intention to change her career pathway from engineering into data science. “The opportunity with She Codes gave me the confidence to pursue changing my career” she said. On the completion of the Plus Program in Brisbane, Georgie joined BHP as a Digital Factories Specialist, as part of BHP’s FTAP (Female Talent Acquisition Program) as a data scientist.

Brooke and Bruna have secured roles as an Agile Delivery Principal in the Digital Factories team and a Digital Factories Specialist.
