BHP Billiton Sustainable Communities Donates A$500,000 to Bushfire Relief

In response to the recent bushfires in South Australia and Western Australia, BHP Billiton Sustainable Communities has donated A$500,000 to assist affected communities.  

BHP Billiton Sustainable Communities will contribute A$250,000 each to the South Australian State Government Pinery Fire Appeal fund and the Shire of Esperance in Western Australia.

The donations will help assist the regions re-establish themselves after these tragic disasters.

BHP Billiton Chief Public Affairs Officer, Tony Cudmore, said: “Natural disasters such as the Pinery and Esperance bushfires have a devastating impact on local communities through damage to property and, most tragically, loss of life.

“These communities have a particular connection to BHP Billiton with a number of our employees, their friends and families directly and indirectly affected by the destruction.   

“We hope these contributions will help on the road to recovery.”
