South Flank is Australia's largest new iron ore mine in more than 50 years. Located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, the operation is part of our Western Australian Iron Ore (WAIO) business. Together with Mining Area C, South Flank forms one of the world's largest iron ore hubs, with the capacity to produce 145 million tonnes of iron ore each year.

Iron ore is the primary raw material used to make steel, which is essential for infrastructure, transport, housing and renewable energy development. South Flank's ore is expected to supply global steel markets for more than 25 years, helping meet demand for the materials needed to support economic growth and development.

We continue to improve operational performance through innovation and technology. At South Flank, an engineering solution developed by our operations and engineering teams enables haul trucks to tip their loads more effectively, helping move an additional 1.52 million tonnes of iron ore each year and reducing material carried back in truck trays by 54 per cent.
