Caval Ridge is one of five metallurgical coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.

The Caval Ridge coal mine is a part of BMA, the 50:50 joint venture between BHP and Mitsubishi Development.
2014 Caval Ridge was opened in 2014.
9.36Mt We achieved annual production of 9.36Mt in FY2023. 
750kgIt takes around 750 kilograms of metallurgical coal to make one tonne of steel.

Caval Ridge is located in Queensland’s Bowen Basin near the town of Moranbah on the traditional lands of the Barada Barna people. Opened in 2014 and processes coal from the adjacent Peak Downs mine via an overland conveyor completed in 2018.
