Caval Ridge is one of nine metallurgical coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.

The Caval Ridge coal mine is a part of BMA, the 50:50 joint venture between BHP and Mitsubishi Development.
2014 Caval Ridge was opened in 2014.
4.35Mt We achieved record annual production of 4.35Mt in FY2020. 
770kgIt takes around 770 kilograms of metallurgical coal to make one tonne of steel.

Caval Ridge is located in Queensland’s Bowen Basin near the town of Moranbah. Opened in 2014 and processes coal from the adjacent Peak Downs mine via an overland conveyor completed in 2018.
