FAQ

How can I apply for funding?

As noted the bulk of the fund will be directed towards the regional communities in the areas where we operate. In the first instance it is recommended to reach out to the Community team in your region. If you are unable to do so, or are not located in a region where BHP operates, please send your enquiry by email to vitalresourcesfund@bhp.com.

How much funding will you deliver in each state?

This funding will help to support regional communities who have supported our operations for so many years. Over the coming weeks and months, we will work with relevant leaders and communities to distribute funding appropriately and effectively according to local needs and in a manner aligned with government programs and initiatives.

The Vital Resources Fund will support communities surrounding our Australian operations in a range of areas such as health services and resilience building during this difficult time. Depending on needs the support can be in kind or financial donations.

What do you mean by support for ‘local health services’?

This will be determined in consultation with relevant services leaders and communities, but for example it could mean funding for hospitals, clinics or public health organisations to purchase specialist equipment, or to bolster outreach services and seek additional resourcing.

What do you mean by support for ‘community services’?

This will be determined in consultation with relevant services leaders and communities, but for example it could mean Meals on Wheels, or organisations that check in on socially isolated people.

Will you increase the amount and/or the scope of the Fund over time?

We will keep the Fund under review over the coming months. For now, we will focus on the regions surrounding our operations in Australia. We will continue to work with governments and community bodies to assess future needs in other areas.

How do communities access the Fund? How will funding be distributed?

Over the coming weeks and months, we will work with relevant leaders and communities to distribute funding appropriately and effectively according to local needs and in a manner aligned with government programs and initiatives.
