BHP holds a 26.5 per cent non-operating interest across the WA-1-L (Scarborough) and WA-62-L (North Scarborough) production licences offshore in Western Australia, alongside Woodside (Operator).

Scarborough at a glance

BHP has approved US$1.5 billion in capital expenditure for development of the Scarborough project located in the North Carnarvon Basin, Western Australia.

Scarborough is a lean gas field spanning 800 square kilometres, located 400 kilometres offshore, 1900 metres below the seabed at a water depth of 920 metres.  

This project will provide jobs, domestic supply security and lower-emissions energy to supply market demand.

The development of the Scarborough field (WA-61-L and WA-62-L titles) comprises 13 subsea wells, a semi-submersible Floating Production Unit and a 430km subsea export pipeline to the Woodside operated Pluto LNG Facility in Karratha in Western Australia.
