For BHP Operations Services Yandi based Production Supervisor Jess Radisich the countdown is on to starting with the Operations Services Mt Arthur Coal team. Jess, her husband, Dereck and their two children 10-year-old Kobi and 8 year-old Kalarni can’t wait for her to start at Mt Arthur.
The move to be near home at Mt Arthur has been years in the making for Jess and her family with the seed planted two years ago during a development conversation.
“Ever since I met my husband, I’ve always been a FIFO in Western Australia working a two weeks on and one week off roster. When you then add in two days for travel from Yandi to Newcastle it meant that I get to see my loved ones for 5 days in a 21 day cycle,” Jess said.
Jess said that the stars aligned for her when she joined Operations Services. Operations Services is BHP’s newest team providing maintenance and production services across Minerals Australia.
In August 2018, Jess took a permanent fulltime role as Production Supervisor with the Operation Services Yandi team. Jess had the full backing of her manager and others to apply for a role at Mt Arthur Coal when Operations Services announced a deployment there in early April 2019.
“I’ve been really fortunate to have a lot of people believing and truly supporting me. They however did challenge me to get passed out on trucks before my move which I have done,” Jess said.
“I’m looking forward to commencing my life back home. Being just over 30 mins away means I’ll be more available as a wife and mother and with a 7/7 roster I'm going to be there to be able to support my family more,” she said.
Jess says that the move to Mt Arthur was always an agreed goal with her family. “I’m so thrilled that what we initially had planned for over three years I have achieved in less the time. Without Operations Services this wouldn’t have happened for me and my family.”
Jess is also looking forward to joining the brand new Mt Arthur team and continuing her Operations Services journey there.
“From what I’ve heard, they seem like a really cool team and I can’t wait to join them. I’m also looking forward to diversifying my knowledge. I’ve worked in gold and iron ore and now I get the opportunity to move to coal,” she said.
