BHP announced that the company will be extending its sponsorship of the popular BHP Enchanted Forest for another three years. Run by The Saskatoon Zoo Foundation and the Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation, the BHP Enchanted Forest is a holiday light tour in Saskatoon, Canada, that annually attracts more than 70,000 visitors and raises more than C$200,000 each year for the partner Foundations.

BHP announced its commitment at the Opening Media Conference. The sponsorship extension will take BHP beyond the 20^th Anniversary of the light show in 2018/2019. This will bring BHP’s financial contribution to the event to over one million dollars since it began its sponsorship in 2010. Dawn Woroniuk, Saskatoon Zoo Foundation Executive Director, and Steve Shannon, Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation CEO, expressed their gratitude to Ken Smith, Manager, Corporate Affairs for BHP, for their outstanding commitment. The official title of the event will be the “BHP Enchanted Forest”.

This year’s new display was also announced at the media event. “The Grinch in Whoville” sponsored by the Saskatchewan RUSH Lacrosse Club is the latest work of master display builder Rick Steffen. The light display will be officially unveiled at the Light Up the Forest ceremony prior to the Media and Sponsors Preview Night.

SaskTel and the SaskTel Pioneers continue a long running tradition themed “Families to the Forest”. Several Inner-city families will be toured through the BHP Enchanted Forest in buses thanks to the generous sponsorship of SaskTel and the SaskTel Pioneers.

Saskatchewan Blue Cross kicks things off with the Push2Pay Light Walk on Friday 17 November and the BHP Enchanted Forest opens to vehicular traffic on Saturday 18 November. The Forest is open for drive-thru traffic every evening 5.30pm – 10.00pm until 6 January at the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park. Admission at the gate remains at C$10/person or C$33/per vehicle with a maximum of seven passengers. Visitors can save by purchasing an Enchanted Express Care Pass for C$28 at any Saskatoon Safeway, Sobeys, or Shoppers Drug Mart.
