Four BHP Petroleum team-members travelled to Exmouth over the weekend to assist CSIRO scientists tag and measure turtles as they came ashore at Ningaloo reef, as part of our partnership with CSIRO to deliver ground breaking marine research in Western Australia.
Antoine, Chris, Jenny and Jen were recognized by their team mates for their commitment to BHP’s culture by building relationships, increasing diversity and leading change in their workplace. Well done team and thank you for your contribution.
“When we started working with BHP we knew that flying out to site was part of the gig, but today was a whole new experience. We flew to Exmouth to take part in the town's 50 year anniversary festivities; and the highlight of the weekend was working with the CSIRO Ningaloo Outlook scientists tagging and measuring Green Turtles. It was an awesome experience in this amazing scenery for the cause of conservation. We are really proud to have been involved in this, and to be a part of this partnership with the CSIRO!”
Understanding the movement and migration of whale sharks, reef sharks and turtles on the Ningaloo reef – an extraordinary UNESCO World Heritage Area off the coast of Western Australia – is a vital part of a multi-million dollar partnership between BHP and one of Australia’s premier research organisations, CSIRO. We are very proud of the work that is being done by the CSIRO’s leading scientists in this special part of the world.
