BHP is proud to announce our BHP FutureFit Academy took home the bronze Brandon Hall Group Excellence Award for Best Learning Program that Supports and Promotes Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
This award is wonderful recognition of the ways FutureFit Academy is supporting and promoting BHP’s inclusion and diversity agenda. They are doing just that – by providing fast tracked trade apprenticeships and traineeships designed with new-to-industry individuals in mind. 80% of FutureFit students are female, 20% are Indigenous, the average age is 30 years old, and retention is at 83.4%.
The Academies provide immersive learning experiences for students using the most current teaching methods and education technology and with all learning conducted in the centres, rather than through traditional ‘on-the-job training’ at BHP’s mining operations.
Michelle Gibson, Head of Learning and Development, shares this is one of the ways we are thinking differently about diversity and inclusion by educating and working all under one roof.
“It is an incredibly inclusive place to learn, and I think that’s one of the things I am most proud of”, says Michelle. “Our teams at the centres set out to nurture, educate and ensure that our learners are safe, competent and confident, and ready to go.”
We know diverse and inclusive teams deliver considerable benefit, with proven safety, performance, innovation and social value outcomes. It is great to see FutureFit recognised for how they are thinking differently in this area, and of course, thinking BIG.
