Compulsory Acquisition Instrument
BHP Billiton today announced that the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has granted relief for the compulsory acquisition of shares in Rio Tinto Limited at the usual 90 per cent relevant interest threshold. This satisfies the need for relief to reach compulsory acquisition thresholds referred to in BHP Billiton's announcement of its Offer on 6 February 2008. A copy of the ASIC instrument is available on the BHP Billiton website.
