Technology is rapidly changing the way we live, learn and work.
In a truly connected world, it’s making it possible for us to do so much more than we could without it.
At BHP, technology, and how our team uses it, is at the core of everything we do.
Our creative teams are developing and supporting innovative systems and infrastructure that are transforming our global operations into some of the best in the world.
For many people, an early passion for science, technology, engineering and math (or STEM for short) becomes the foundation for an exciting and rewarding career – rich with opportunities to change the course of how the world approaches evolving challenges.
We’re on a journey to achieve gender balance across BHP and part of this is helping to build the next generation of women in technology – and showcasing the diverse career pathways this field offers.
With half of Australia’s future workforce expected to need high-level programming, coding and software design skills by 2030, we’re proud partners of Perth Web Girls, a grassroots organisation powered by SpaceCubed in Western Australia, that nurtures young women taking early steps in STEM.
Perth Web Girls aims to increase diversity in the technology community, create strong networks and spark collaboration – and free programming workshops and events, where mentors are on hand to share their coding expertise.
With coding quickly becoming a fundamental skill for the future, we believe that when combined with an innovative mind, there’s life-changing opportunities on the horizon.
So where will STEM take you? Find out at the next Perth Web Girls event on 3 and 4 November 2018. Registration is open now.
