BHP Billiton Funds Australian Public Policy Research

Melbourne and London

BHP Billiton has agreed to provide funding to both The Menzies and Chifley Research Centres to support research into significant public policy issues in Australia.

The Menzies Research Centre will be coordinating a series of seminars and roundtable discussions on issues relating to globalisation, and will commission research by the Centre for International Economics. The Chifley Research Centre will commission research on sustainable technology and environmental services by Ernst and Young.

BHP Billiton Vice President Government and Community Relations Graham Evans said: "While our policy on not making donations to political parties remains unchanged, we are prepared to support public policy research on matters of interest to BHPBilliton and where there are potential broader community benefits."
