Gary Mitchell and Steve Peredi from the Macedon Gas Plant headed down to the local Onslow Primary School this month, along with Field Operations Manager Darryl Nottingham, to look at plans to install a naturescape style play area where kids can play safely.
“We are looking to help the Onslow Primary school upgrade their kindergarten playground to something more age-appropriate,” said Operations Superintendent, Gary Mitchell. “At the moment, many of the smaller kids can’t use the playground equipment as it’s too large.”
The Macedon team's A$1,250 donation – part of a reward to the team for their participation in Continuous Improvement initiatives – will be put towards the overall amount needed to complete the playground at the primary school. They also made a donation to the Starlight Foundation, which supports seriously ill kids in Perth’s children’s hospital.
APU has also proudly supported the Onslow St John Ambulance during National Volunteer Week through our community grants program. “The ambulance service plays a really critical part of the community here and it’s important to support them wherever possible,” said Darryl.
