Our Contribution to Western Australia

BHP has been part of Western Australia’s story for decades, helping power the state’s economy while investing in the communities where we operate. Our success is tied to the strength of these regions, and we are focused on creating lasting value for local people, businesses and the broader economy.

In FY2025, our operations contributed around 9 per cent of all government revenue in Western Australia, alongside billions in payments to suppliers, royalties and taxes that support essential services and infrastructure.

At the same time, we are committed to building stronger, more liveable communities. This includes investing in local infrastructure, supporting Indigenous and Traditional Owner businesses, and partnering with organisations that deliver better outcomes in health, education and employment.

We also go beyond our core commitments by working in partnership with others to deliver long-term, place-based investment. Initiatives like the Resources Community Investment Initiative (RCII) bring together industry, government and community partners to address shared challenges and create lasting impact at scale.

Across Western Australia, we are focused on creating social value through initiatives that strengthen regional economies, support families and create opportunity. Since 2014, BHP has contributed $6.6 billion to social, community and training programs through WA Iron Ore, reflecting our long-term commitment to the state.

From the Pilbara to the Goldfields, this is about working alongside communities, government and local partners to deliver positive, enduring outcomes for Western Australians.
