Can I apply for a job in a country other than my own?

BHP offers a broad range of career opportunities around the globe. However, BHP does not have a policy of automatically sponsoring candidates who are not authorised to work in a specific country. If you have the required skills and experience for the position, we suggest you make an application.

Can I communicate directly with a BHP recruitment or hiring manager?

Due to the high volume of interest in opportunities with our company, it is not possible for our resourcing team or hiring managers to liaise with every candidate. Should we wish to progress your application, we will contact you about next steps.

Can I fax my application to you?

No. All applications must be made online so we can easily track your application and assess your skills and experience against the opportunities we have.

How often are new jobs posted on your website?

We post jobs regularly, often daily, so we recommend you visit our site often and search our current vacancies. You can also subscribe to our Job Alert service and you will be notified of future jobs that match your preferences.

What is the length of time a job remains posted?

This varies across regions from five days to two weeks. If you see an opportunity that you think is suitable, try and apply online as soon as you can. Once the job closes, we often cannot accept any more applications.

Can I apply for more than one job at a time?

Absolutely. You are welcome to apply for any of our job postings that you believe match your skill-set and career aspirations.

Who can submit an application?

Our job postings are designed to attract people who are interested in joining BHP. They are not intended for recruitment suppliers. In fact, we will not accept responsibility for any fees related to unsolicited applications from recruitment suppliers.

What happens after I apply for a job?

After you submit your online application we will send you an automated email response, confirming receipt of your submission. Our resourcing specialists and hiring managers will assess your application. If we would like to progress your application, we will be back in contact with you to let you know the next steps. If you are not successful, we will retain your resume in our database.

What is Job Alert?

Job Alert is an automatic job hunter. You can use Job Alert to tell us your preferences and then matched jobs will be emailed to you for consideration.

What if I have applied for a job and forgotten my username and password?

The first time you apply for a position using BHP Jobs you will be asked to enter your email address (Username), and create a password and secret question. When you return to BHP Jobs the system will remember your email address and will prompt you to enter your password.

Should you forget your password you will have to click on the "Forgotten your Password?" link. You will then be presented with your secret question which you must answer correctly to have your password sent to your email address.

If you are unable to answer your secret question then please contact us and a new password will be generated and sent to your email address.

As an applicant, what can I expect from the selection process?

Our candidate experience may include any of the following:

  • online application (submission of CV and sometimes a cover letter)

  • Career Service Application (applicable in the United States only for select roles)

  • abilities testing

  • assessment centre

  • telephone interview

  • behavioural based interviews

  • background and reference checks

  • medical assessments (for select roles).
