For food relief organisation Foodbank, COVID-19 bio-security and self-isolation measures have made it harder than ever to provide staple food and grocery items to those in need, particularly in remote South Australia.

But with the support of BHP’s Vital Resources Fund, Foodbank will now be able to establish two new Food Hubs and extend its Fresh Food Friday program to provide rural school students in need with food hampers.

“Foodbank South Australia will be able to deliver ongoing and sustainable facilities and programs to provide food relief to regional communities in Murray Bridge and Ceduna. We will also be able to provide take home hampers to disadvantaged children in over 200 schools right across the state. It is a great example of the impact that our partnership with BHP delivers,” said Greg Pattinson, Foodbank CEO.

The investment is part of BHP’s Vital Resources Fund, established to help support regional Australian communities facing the significant challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic. BHP’s funding also supports Foodbank in Western Australia.
