The US Country Program is focused on:
- Supporting the inclusion of more disadvantaged young people in quality education, with a focus on girls, non-English speakers and Native Americans
- Improving the governance and management of water resources to ensure sustainable access to clean water
- Supporting Indigenous peoples and organisations in their drive towards self-determination
All of these challenges are complex and cannot be solved by a single organisation. The Foundation works in a spirit of genuine partnership with like-minded civil society organisations and international institutions to align aspirations behind a common goal and make the best use of collective expertise.
In selecting projects for investment, the BHP Billiton Foundation follows a research-driven and consultative process that draws upon the expertise of individuals and organisations to identify specific issues to be addressed.
The Foundation is committed to robust governance and aims to set an example in purposeful transparency by reporting openly on progress in each of its projects.
